The MCC Institute for Workforce Innovation Professional Education is pleased to offer Gas Utility Worker Basics training at Missouri Gas Energy’s Training Facility to industry employees, workers moving into the industry and unemployed workers transitioning from mechanical or construction fields.

Gas Utility Basics

Hours: 75

Prerequisites: H.S. diploma or GED, ability to lift 50 pounds and walk long distances in all types of weather, mechanical aptitude. Preferred: customer service skills, attention to detail, safety awareness, CDL. This specialized study of the natural gas distribution industry will provide background knowledge, concepts and basic skills for existing industry employees, workers desiring to move into the industry and unemployed workers transitioning from similar industries. Through theory and practical workshop experience, students will learn natural gas fundamentals, pipe and equipment installation practices, system testing, troubleshooting, and applicable standards requirements.
