Early Childhood Education and Development

ECED 262 - Working With Families & The Community (3 credits)

Prerequisite: ECED 101 or ECED 117 with a grade of C or higher. This course will prepare students to develop opportunities for partnership among families, schools, and communities. The course provides an in-depth study of the principles of parenting and family relationships as well as the skills necessary to understand and work with families. The importance of the teacher's role in the school and community as applied to working with families of young children and the community is emphasized. This course follows the guidelines of Kansas and Missouri Core Competencies for Early Care and Education Professionals and is aligned to level II of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Professional Standards and Competencies for Early Childhood Educators.
