State Programs

Missouri supports MCC students in many ways. Complete eligibility details and related information can be found on the Missouri Department of Higher Education (MDHE) web site.

A+ Scholarship Program

Award: Tuition and general fees, subject to appropriations and after all available, non-loan federal financial aid has been applied to your account.

Merit-based program

  • Be certified as eligible by your high school (have an official A+ transcript sent to MCC)
  • Submit a FAFSA
  • Be enrolled full time
  • Be seeking a degree or certificate (not in theology or divinity)
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress
  • Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or lawfully present in the U.S.
  • Renewal students must maintain a minimum 2.5 gpa

Access Missouri Program

Award: $300 to $510 a year depending on EFC.

Need-based program

  • Submit a FAFSA by April 1
  • Any FAFSA corrections must be made no later than July 31
  • Your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) must be no higher than $12,000
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress
  • Be enrolled full time
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident of the U.S.

Advanced Placement Incentive Grant

Award: One-Time grant of $500, subject to appropriations.


  • Any student who receives an Access Missouri Grant award or receives funds under the A+ Program in the academic year in which the Advanced Placement Incentive Grant is awarded;
  • Achieve two grades of three or higher on Advanced Placement exams in the fields of math and/or science while attending a Missouri public high school; and
  • Submit a complete application for the Advanced Placement Incentive Grant by June 1, 2014 for the 2013-2014 academic year.

Bright Flight Scholarship

Award: $2,000 a year.

Merit-based scholarship

  • Requires a composite score on the ACT or the SAT in the top three percent of scores for all Missouri students
  • Must achieve a qualifying test score by the June assessment date
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident of the U.S.

Marguerite Ross Barnett Memorial Scholarship

Award: tuition for six or nine credit hours.

Need-based scholarship

  • Submit a FAFSA by April 1
  • Must be enrolled at least half time, but less than full time
  • Must be employed and compensated for 20 or more hours per week

Missouri Returning Heroes Act

Limited tuition charges are applied for eligible veterans who have served in an armed combat zone since September 11, 2001. Contact your financial Aid office for details.
