Penn Valley Community College/MCC-Penn Valley (1993 to Current); Women’s Head Coach: 1994-2003, 2009-10; Athletic Director/1999-current; Men’s Head Basketball Coach/2003 to Current).

Prior to starting the Women’s program, Marcus was an assistant coach for the Men’s program for 8 years at Penn Valley. During this time, the Men’s team won four Regional Championships and advanced to the National Tournament twice, placing 3rd and 5th.

Coach Harvey’s record as Head Women’s Coach was 256 wins and 92 loses. His teams finished 2nd; 8th; 7th; 2nd and 6th place in the National Tournaments in Danville, IL. He was named Region 16 “Coach of the Year” nine out of ten years.

Marcus Harvey has been Head Coach of the Men’s Basketball team at MCC-Penn Valley for the past 8 years. During this time, his teams have won three Regional Championships; two District Championships and placed 3rd,9th and 6th in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament.

Coach Harvey has coached seven All-Americans on the Women’s side and seven on the Men’s side which included one Kodak All-American.

Marcus’ playing experience included: Paseo High School in Kansas City, Missouri; ALL Conference player at Southeast Missouri Slate University; student assistant coach for one year after completing his playing career there. Played professionally in Esperanza, Argentine for one season.

Assistant Coach

Rick Madden joined the Penn Valley staff after coaching over ten years as assistant coach at Paseo High and Metro High schools in Kansas City. He also coached in the U.S. Army. As assistant on the high school level he helped lead teams to several league and district championships as well as a second place finish in State. At Penn Valley he has helped lead MCC-PV to nine regional championships and eight trips to the National tournament in which they had two second-place and third-place finishes.

Coach Madden had also been part of two free agent camps for the USBL pro team, The Kansas Cougars. He has run several basketball camps to include Anthony Peelers, Earl Watson, Tyron Lue, and Joe Carter's all-sports camp, among others. He has coached for The Mayor's Night Hoops program, the Kansas City Key's, and his own organization College Prospects.

After the death of Penn Valley's beloved coach, Fred Pohlman, coach Madden took over the head coaching duties and finished the 1999-2000 season with a 6th-place finish in the National tournament. As the co-head coach in charge of administration in 2001-2002, he helped lead the Scouts to a 2nd-place finish.

Madden has helped develop and coach eleven All-American athletes while at MCC-Penn Valley and three in high schools. He has coached and developed two National Players of the year.
