History is written all over the
MCC-Penn Valley Basketball Scouts.
The program, started in 1967 by longtime coach Fred Pohlman, today calls the A. Fred Pohlman Fieldhouse home. The name is in recognition of the long shadow Coach Pohlman left on the program -- not to mention the 600+ wins, various championship titles, and 1995-96 season national championship he brought about.
Marcus Harvey has been Head Coach of the Men's Basketball team at Penn Valley for the past three years. During this time, his teams have won two Regional Championships; two District Championships and placed 3rd and9th in the NJCAA Division II National Tourament. Before coaching the Men's Basketball team, Harvey coached the Women's Team. Coach Harvey's record as Head Women's Coach was 234 wins and 80 loses. His teams finished 2nd; 8th; 7th; 2nd and 6th place in the National Tournaments in Danville, IL. He was named Region 16 "Coach of the Year" seven out of nine years.
