Supply Chain Management

Supply Chain Management

Supply chain is one of the fastest growing industries in the country. Industry experts predict the logistics business will look to fill about 1.4 million jobs, or roughly 270,000 per year, by 2018.

A May 2014 Fortune article described the $1.3 trillion U.S. supply chain industry as big and getting bigger. According to the article, “the vast U.S. logistics business, which delivers 48 million tons of freight (worth about $48 billion) daily and already employs roughly 6 million people, operates mostly behind the scenes.”

One recent study estimated that there are six unfilled jobs for every trained supply chain manager in the country and the demand for high skilled supply chain personnel is increasing.  Every company on the Fortune 500 Top-10 list has a supply chain, which means that companies like Walmart, Amazon, and CVS all need supply chain managers.
