Description

Biologists study living organisms and their relationship to the environment, spending a great deal of time researching in a laboratory setting. They may also focus on developing new products, working with engineers, business managers and other scientists to find cutting-edge scientific solutions. Careers for biologists include:

MCC offers a wide-range of biology electives to choose from including: botany, zoology, nutrition, ecology, and microbiology. Field biology students camp outside, identifying flora and fauna of different biomes. Environmental science examines population growth, resource allocation and pollution. Many classes include field work outside the classroom, letting you get your hands dirty with real-world experience.
Our biology program is built around the Associate in Arts (AA) degree. This degree gives you a solid background in general education courses that can transfer to a four-year institution. It also allows 17 hours of elective courses that let you focus on your science and biology interests.

 

Transfer Credits

While MCC does not offer a degree in this field, these lower division (freshman/sophomore level) courses move with you to a four year college or university and depending on your chosen major may apply toward your degree or as an elective. Check with your transfer school and your MCC academic advisor for the most accurate and timely transfer information.
