Description

Amazing people have lived before us. Momentous times have shaped us. The power of history is inescapable. It lives today in how we think, act, dress and live. It is the force that has created countries, conflicts and cultures.

Knowing history is the mark of a well-educated person. It can also be the foundations of a rewarding career. Teaching is not the only career for history graduates. Many seek careers in:

  • Law school
  • Public history
  • Historic preservation
  • Communications
  • Government work
  • Business and industry

Our history courses include U.S., African American and English history as well as Western civilization, material culture, women in history and American frontiers.

Our history program is built around the Associate in Arts (AA) degree. This degree gives you a solid two-year background in general education courses that can transfer to a four-year institution. It also allows 17 hours of elective courses that let you focus on your specific history interests.

Transfer Credits

While MCC does not offer a degree in this field, these lower division (freshman/sophomore level) courses move with you to a four year college or university and depending on your chosen major may apply toward your degree or as an elective. Check with your transfer school and your MCC academic advisor for the most accurate and timely transfer information.
