MCC-Blue River's Arts Brochure (pdf)
Your talent or interest in music can reach full expression at MCC. While one thinks of performing as the career for those who study music, there are many other musical career opportunities:
We offer nearly 40 courses and hundreds of classes for everyone - from beginners to music majors. These include a full slate of vocal and instrumental courses as well as private music lessons, music theory, music appreciation, evolution of jazz, midi music production and music education.
Some campuses join with local arts organizations to give students expanded educational opportunities. You could also perform with a chorale, band, jazz ensemble, or symphony and receive college credit.
Our music program is built around the Associate in Arts (AA) degree. This degree gives you a solid two-year background in general education courses that can transfer to a four-year institution. It also allows 17 hours of elective courses that let you home in on your specific musical interests.
While MCC does not offer a degree in this field, these lower division (freshman/sophomore level) courses move with you to a four year college or university and depending on your chosen major may apply toward your degree or as an elective. Check with your transfer school and your MCC academic advisor for the most accurate and timely transfer information.
