SERVICES FOR DEAF OR HARD-OF-HEARING STUDENTS

Interpreting and transcription services are available for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. Students should contact a campus Disability Support Services (DSS) office. Employees or visitors needing interpreters should contact Ashley Fagan or complete the Interpreting Request Form.

Specialists include:
Ashley Fagan-Interpreter Coordinator

  • Manages hiring, training and supervising MCC interpreters
  • Assists DSS offices with deaf student enrollment
  • Provides assistance regarding deaf and hard-of-hearing issues

Carin Smutny-Learning Specialist for Deaf Students

  • Conducts language assessment
  • Assists with Placement testing
  • Helps with referrals
  • Coordinates tutoring for students whose primary language is ASL
