We all love the hero, but what about the villain? Without an antagonist how can our protagonist grow? Are there differences between contemporary, science fiction, fantasy and horror antagonists? Discuss your favorite bad guys and what made them memorable. Bring your own villain to improve or craft a new baddie in this seminar.
Move beyond writing in black and white descriptions. Add color to your creative writing by utilizing your senses to construct dialogue, sketch objects and create atmosphere. Participate in exercises that will stimulate your senses and writing. Taste, smell, see, touch and hear how you can improve your craft and relate to your audience.
Finally, you've done it. Written the story or novel that is waiting to be shared with the world. Now what? Learn the basics on how to query agents and editors and get some resources on how to streamline the process. If you have a current novel synopsis, bring that to revise during the workshop.
Learn tips on how to utilize humor in fiction. From the basics of using humor in popular fiction to revising their own pieces, workshoppers will get their hands and their funny bones dirty in this workshop. So make 'em laugh til it hurts, or at least til your pen runs out of ink.
Want to see your work in the movies or on television? This workshop by Kurt Canow will introduce you to writing scripts.
