Metropolitan Community College - Blue River Public Safety Institute offers Fire Academy training that is recognized by the Missouri Department of Public Safety - Division of Fire Safety, which is IFSAC accredited. Being affiliated with IFSAC, the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress, offers our recruits employment eligibility across the United States since most of the states are IFSAC associated and reciprocally accept the firefighter training our graduates have accomplished.
Our Academy instructors are experienced firefighters who have served in Kansas City metropolitan area fire departments. This assures that our recruits receive effective, real-world training, which not only addresses current demands, but also remains visionary in planning optimal training for future needs in public safety areas.
All applicants must meet MCC prerequisite guidelines before obtaining an applicant packet; for assistance contact Blue River's Student Development Department at 816-604-1000.
As part of the academy curriculum, each of our recruits complete the Candidate Physical Ability Test, and also have access to take the B-5 Fire Service Entrance Exam from IPMA-HR (International Public Management Association for Human Resources) Assessment Services at a discount price.
