Summer Combo Concert

Sunday, July 27 - 3 p.m. at The American Jazz Museum Atrium
The Concert is free and open to the public

Fall Session Set for Sept. 6 to Dec. 7

Sept. 6 - Placement Auditions for Fall Session.  9:30-11 a.m.
Sept. 13 - First Rehearsal
Dec. 7 - Fall/Winter Concert.  3 p.m. at MCC-Penn Valley
TBA - 18th and Vine Jazz Festival
TBA - Rehearsals at The American Jazz Museum
TBA - Jazz Performance/Woody Herman Dedication

Fall tuition is $450

Audition Information

Students should:
  1. Bring a prepared piece, excerpt or etude.
  2. Be prepared to sight-read and improvise over concert Bb blues. 
  3. Drummers need to be prepared to play the following grooves. Swing, Latin and rock.
  4. Bass players and guitarists must bring their instruments; instruments are provided for drummers and pianists.

Weekly Rehearsals

Rehearsals are on Saturdays from 9:30–11:30 a.m.

With the exciting exception noted below, Saturday rehearsals are on the campus of MCC-Penn Valley, 3201 SW Trafficway, Kansas City, Mo., Science Technology (ST) Building,  Room 001 (lower level)

Once a month, the MJW-KC rehearsal will take place at The American Jazz Museum in Kansas City’s Historic Jazz District. Dates and details about this amazing opportunity and collaboration will be provided early in the semester.  Rehearsals at The Jazz Museum will not take place during the summer session.
