CPR and First Aid

This comprehensive course covers adult CPR and first aid featuring hands-on practice and real-life scenarios. You will also receive training to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on a victim of sudden cardiac arrest. You will learn how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, as well as how to apply basic precautions to reduce the risk of disease transmission during and after providing care. Take-home materials will help you retain skills and serve as reference tools in an emergency. American Heart Association CPR certification is valid for two years following the class.

Ancient Greek

Koine, or common, Greek was the language of everyday people from about the 4th century B.C.E. until the 6th century C.E. in the Middle East. It was also the language used by the Septuagint (Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament), the New Testament and the early Christian writers. In this introductory class, you will study the Greek alphabet and grammar while learning how to pronounce and spell basic vocabulary words. You’ll practice some useful phrases and learn how to find words in a Greek dictionary. By the end of the class students will have the ability to translate simple Greek sentences.

Introduction to Japanese

Introduction to Japanese Language is designed to prepare the beginning language student for a short-term experience in Japan. The Google suite of products, G Suite, is a free on-line source for storing and creating documents, spreadsheets, presentations and much more. The course will introduce you to all of the aspects of Google Drive and how to navigate its most-used tool, Google Docs, Google’s version of a simple word-processing application.

One-on-One Computer Training

Get the attention you need on a computer project you choose. While the Community Education program offers group computer classes on many subjects, one-on-one lessons can be a better way to learn for some people. Select your topic and call to schedule your training. Some topics our instructor can assist with are:

  • basic computer skills
  • email basics
  • software applications such as MS-Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access or Outlook
  • navigating the internet
  • completing a mail merge

There are many possibilities! All instruction will be in a computer lab on one of the MCC campuses. Both day and evening sessions are available. Note: Upon your initial inquiry, we will discuss your specific needs so that our instructor is prepared to work with you. We require each session to be a minimum of two hours, which we have found to be beneficial for both student and instructor. Two people may attend together, if they are interested in the same training. Fees for the sessions are payable in advance, at the time of enrollment, as follows:

  • One person, 2-hour session: $100
  • Two person, 2-hour session: $80 per person
