Tyjaun A. Lee, Ph.D., President, MCC-Penn ValleyJanuary 26, 2021

Over 50 years ago, MCC Penn Valley opened its doors to serve the residents of Kansas City, Missouri. We have graduated over 400,000 students with a degree or certificate. Since my arrival, we have re-organized the institutional structure to add two new leaders to support the campus. I would like to introduce Ms. Lesha Gregory, Interim Vice President of Instruction and Student Services and Mr. Basil Lister, Director of Campus Operations. Both Ms. Gregory and Mr. Lister have been a value add to our campus (photos below).

Over the past three years, MCC Penn Valley has renovated several student spaces and added new services such as Penn Station, a clothing closet that provides professional attire to students who are going on internships and into the workforce. We also have a new Adult Learner Lounge that we are excited to have available to our students.

We continue to expand our academic programs. We recently added a Hospitality Management degree, certificate in Early Childhood Education, and a certificate in Computed Technology. Our Francis Institute continues to offer professional development training for Early Childhood Educators.

Our Middle College program has grown from serving 20 students to serving over 200 students. The Middle College program is a partnership between the Full Employment Council and Kansas City Public Schools. The program allows adults age 18 through 24 to earn both a high school and college credential.

MCC-Penn Valley has been providing the surrounding community with robust, rigorous, and relevant education opportunities for many years. We are proud of our accomplishments thus far and look forward to all that is to come in the future.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email at mccpennvalleypres@mcckc.edu.

I look forward to seeing you on campus!
