Greater access to affordable higher education

Voters in Grain Valley, Liberty and Oak Grove approved "attaching" their K-12 school district to Metropolitan Community College in elections on April 6, 2021. Your neighbors have shown how much they value education by making an investment in the future of the workforce in your community. Students residing in these newly attached school districts (including dual credit and early college students still in high school) will now enjoy a tuition cost per credit hour that’s almost 50% less than what out-of-district students pay.

"Whether you come to MCC for job training, retraining, an associate degree before transferring elsewhere, or any number of other options, we welcome you. And for residents of these three school districts, those options just became much more affordable."

— MCC Chancellor Kimberly Beatty

With more than 120 programs, Metropolitan Community College offers degrees and certificates for everyone. You can graduate with an associate degree and then transfer credits to a four-year institution to continue your education. Or you can earn an associate in applied science (A.A.S.) degree or technical certificate. MCC offers career training in a variety of in-demand industry sectors, getting you job-ready quickly.

With five main campuses in Greater Kansas City, MCC is an affordable education option that’s close to home for these three newly attached school districts.

The MCC-Blue River campus in Independence is a quick drive from Grain Valley or Oak Grove. MCC-Blue River has excellent music and theater programs as well as the Public Safety Institute, which trains future peace officers and firefighters. And MCC’s popular cybersecurity program, housed at Blue River, has been named a National Center of Academic Excellence.

Just south of Oak Grove and Grain Valley, the MCC-Longview campus in Lee’s Summit is home to one of the finest automotive technology programs in the nation.

The MCC-Maple Woods campus in the Northland is just minutes from Liberty. It’s home to the Midwest’s finest veterinary technology program. Maple Woods is also where you’ll find the MCC Sports Training Center.

All three campuses are also known for their strong general education programs.

Whether you take classes on campus or through our popular MCC Online program, your tuition as an MCC in-district resident will be about half what it was before the April 2021 vote. Your community has shown it is here to support you, and so is MCC. Welcome to the MCC family.
