they will have a guaranteed path to a degree or employable credential at no cost.
How will it work?

MCC is proud to develop a program designed to support students from low-to-modest income families as determined by the free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. In this pilot year, MCC will partner with Grandview, Center and Hickman Mills school districts to create a model for success that can extend to other districts in coming years.
Track options
Track 1: Early College Academies
- All rising juniors will be assessed
- The KC Guarantee will provide financial support to the three participating school districts' Early College Academies
- All eligible Early College Academy students will be placed into a guaranteed path for completion by high school graduation
Track 2: High School Seniors
- Those seniors with a household income below $125K may be eligible (pending FAFSA qualifying
SAI score) for:
- Last-dollar funding after all non-loan sources have been applied
- Intentional case management support through the application, enrollment and completion process
- Resources that may include a laptop, bus pass and access to a stipend up to $250
- A guaranteed path to a degree or certificate in a field of their choosing
- With additional staff support, a summer boot camp will be developed for seniors as needed
Beginning this year, MCC will pilot the KC Guarantee in three Kansas City-area school districts
— Center, Grandview and Hickman Mills —
with plans to invite additional districts, institutions and regional partners in the
future.
Who's eligible?
- United States citizens enrolled in 12+ credit hours
- Have graduated from Center, Grandview or Hickman Mills high schools in May 2026 and enrolled in the Fall 2026 semester at MCC
- Have a Student Aid Index (SAI) on the FAFSA of 12,000 or below (if SAI is above this, you could still be eligible for a small stipend to assist with educational costs)
- Be declared on a degree or certificate program
- Attend a New Student Advising and Enrollment Session
- Attend a Wolf Pack Welcome
- Complete a KC Guarantee intake form (coming soon)
- Participate in Summer Bridge activities as determined by the intake coordinator
How to apply
- Complete an MCC application
- Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You MUST complete the FAFSA to be considered for participation in KC Guarantee
- Log in to your myMCCKC account and look for other scholarships you may be eligible for through Scholarship Universe
- Complete the KC Guarantee intake form (coming soon).
Retaining scholarship
- Maintain continuous full-time enrollment
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress
- Maintain good standing with the MCC Code of Conduct
- Complete certificate or degree program within 36 months
Early College/Dual Enrollment participants
The KC Guarantee will provide financial support to the three participating school districts' Early College Academies.
