Noncredit-program completers get a ceremony of their own

Metropolitan Community College commencement included "Pomp and Circumstance," caps and gowns, and hundreds of grads crossing the stage in a hockey arena.

What it did not have: a balloon drop.

MCC Workforce and Economic Development's first recognition ceremony for recent completers of noncredit programs was a smaller affair, but the participants were just as thrilled to be celebrating a milestone. Among the MCC noncredit programs represented by students: certified nurse assistant, certified medication technician, phlebotomist and apprentices.

The May 26 event at MCC-Penn Valley included a job fair afterward. WED plans to hold this event each spring and fall.
