Physical Education

Make a career of physical education, and you could find work as a teacher, trainer, sports specialist or scientist concerned with health and physical fitness. P.E. teachers lead or coach students in sports and recreational activities, promoting healthy lifestyles and physical fitness.

Program highlights

  • MCC offers dozens of physical education courses you can take to further your own fitness goals, and also pave the way for a physical education career.
  • Aerobics, karate, scuba diving, wrestling, first aid, lifetime fitness, principles of group exercise, principles of health and special topics in physical education are some of them. Varsity sports include soccer, baseball, softball, cross country, volleyball and basketball.
  • Several campuses have fully equipped fitness or recreation centers that offer personal fitness assessments, indoor swimming, basketball and volleyball courts, jogging tracks, weight training, StairMaster, rowing machines, aerobics and more.
  • Our physical education program is built around the Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree. This degree gives you a solid background in general education courses that can transfer to a four-year institution. It also allows 17 hours of elective courses that let you hone in on your specific physical education interests.

While MCC does not offer a degree in this field, these freshman- and sophomore-level courses move with you to a four year college or university. Depending on your chosen major, these courses may apply toward your degree or as electives.
