Early Childhood Education and Development

ECED 117 - Principles of Youth Work & Development I (3 credits)

Prerequisite: ENGL 90 with a minimum grade of S or appropriate placement score.This course introduces students to the field of working with children/youth (ages 5-17) in out-of-school program settings. This course covers competencies related to child development, the physical environment, curriculum, and observation and assessment. This course is aligned to the MO Youth Development credential competency goals I and II as well as the Standards of the National Afterschool Association, Level III, content areas 1-3.
