If you're exploring the dental field, the Boot Camp taught by MCC Penn Valley-Health Science Institute(HSI) faculty and graduates is the perfect opportunity to have one-day, hands-on experience with the profession of Dental Assisting.
Important: Attendance at Boot Camp does not guarantee admission to the Dental Assisting Program. Participants who apply to the program must meet all application requirements and complete the required on-site written reflection, which contributes to the applicant selection process.
Description
Dental assistants are critical healthcare professionals and the demand for more continues
to rise. This bootcamp will help you understand the roles of a dental assistant through
a look at the knowledge, essential skills, interpersonal communication and abilities
needed to be successful in the industry. Learn about MCC Penn Valley-HSI course offerings
that can help you achieve your career goal as a dental assistant through a series
of hands-on activities.
Objectives
By the end of the Boot Camp, participants will have had the opportunity to:
- Describe the roles and responsibilities of a dental assistant.
- Identify basic knowledge and foundational skills required for dental assisting practice.
- Explore skills, techniques, and procedures commonly used in the dental assisting field.
- Identify educational pathways and training opportunities available for obtaining a Missouri Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) permit.

Participation requirement
Attendees must be at least 18 years old. The course has been designed for 10 participants, and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
