Partner Programs

University of Missouri, Kansas City (UMKC) 'RooMentum'

The RooMentum partnership with the University of Missouri-Kansas City, announced in September 2019, is intended to propel students toward faster completion of a four-year degree. RooMentum is a combination of the Roos, the UMKC mascot, and momentum.

There are three components of the MCC/UMKC transfer agreement. The On Track program is designed for first-time, full-time college students who may not qualify for direct admission to UMKC. It provides students an opportunity to explore academic and career interests and improve their academic preparation. Once students complete On Track at MCC, they will automatically be admitted to UMKC.

Most students in the RooMentum programs will begin their college careers at MCC, but they'll be considered enrolled at both schools, with access to libraries, academic advisors and other resources at both institutions.

Degree in 3

Degree in 3 is a faster route to a bachelor's degree at the University of Kansas. Metropolitan Community College, several K-12 school districts and the area's two other community colleges have partnered with KU on Degree in 3.

Degree in 3 refers to completing a four-year degree three years after high school. For that to be possible, high-achieving students take a year's worth of college credit courses in high school, then spend a year on a community college campus to earn their associate degree. The final two years are spent at the KU Edwards Campus.
