How to Apply for Graduation

Why should you apply for graduation?

  • You must apply to graduate so that your records will be reviewed and your degree awarded.
  • Applying to graduate ensures you will receive important communications about your graduation status and the commencement ceremony.
  • When you apply to graduate you will have the opportunity to update your name so that it is displayed correctly on your diploma.

When should you apply for graduation?

  • Students should apply for graduation during their final semester or when they are enrolled in their final courses.

How to apply for graduation?

  1. Log into myMCCKC
  2. Click on Student Center Home
  3. In the Academics section, use the dropdown box labeled "other academics" and select "Apply for Graduation"
  4. Click on the word "Credit" in blue
  5. Select the term in which you intend to graduate
  6. Ensure your name is displayed the way you want it to appear on your diploma
  7. Select your main campus
  8. Select continue
  9. Review the information displayed for accuracy
  10. Select Submit Application

Is there a deadline for applying to graduate?

  • Students who apply prior to March 15th will be included in the MCC commencement program.
  • Students who apply after March 15th are still able to graduate and participate in the commencement ceremony but do not have a guaranteed spot in the program.

What to expect after you apply for graduation?

  • Within two weeks, you will receive an email letting you know your status toward meeting your graduation requirements. Please be sure to check your student email for this information.
  • Students who are approved for graduation will receive emails about the commencement ceremony.

How do you apply for more than one degree at a time?

  • Students can only apply for the one degree they are declared on.  If you are planning to earn a degree that you are not declared on, please contact your academic advisor.

How late can you apply and still graduate?

  • Students can continue to apply for graduation until the end of the semester. Your records will be reviewed and your degree will be awarded if you meet the requirements.

Can you graduate if you don’t participate in the commencement ceremony?

  • Yes. While participation in the ceremony is encouraged, it is not required for graduation.

When will you receive your diploma?

  • Diplomas are mailed within 6-8 weeks after the end of the semester. Please ensure your address is up-to-date by logging in to your myMCCKC Student Center and reviewing your personal information.

How can you order a replacement diploma?

  • Replacement diplomas can be ordered by submitting a Diploma Request Form. Instructions for submission are on the form. Duplicate diplomas can take up to 8 weeks to be processed and mailed.
