The Write Place
The MCC-Blue River Writing Center provides a supportive environment in which students can discuss and learn about writing. Since an appointment isn't necessary, students may drop by for individual tutoring with all their written assignments. The Write Place, Campus Center 137, is our designated writing room and offers a quiet, relaxed space in which students can work on their essays, research papers and creative writing.
Our writing tutors are knowledgeable about all writing aspects and can help with analysis of the writing assignment, as well as identification of the thesis statement, paragraph support, organization and sentence skills. In addition, tutors can help with suggestions about writing word choice and style and can provide information to help students recognize areas of improvement for their written work.
The goal of the MCC-Blue River Writing Center is to help students achieve their writing goals and to strengthen their writing strengths in a caring, professional atmosphere. Students should plan to allow at least twenty to thirty minutes for each tutoring session and to visit the Writing Center early in the writing process to allow time for revision. Tutoring is a free service to all MCC students.
Writing and study skill workshops are also available for individuals and groups by request. For more information about free supplemental workshops or to schedule a workshop, please contact Learning Support Services at br.learningservices@mcckc.edu.
